What the README says it does
libsm64 runs Mario’s physics and animation against Elden Ring’s collision. The Tarnished stays in the world and follows Mario so doors, graces, menus, deaths, and saves still work. The README describes triple jumps, wall kicks, long jumps, ground pounds, and an SM64 health meter. F9 switches the camera.
Hits take a fixed share of an enemy’s max health. Strength, weapons, stamina, and FP do not drive Mario’s combat. The author calls it a work in progress.
How people are installing it
The GitHub release is the source we checked: install me3, unzip the ER Mario release somewhere you can write to, add your own US ROM, and start er-mario.me3. It uses its own save. The README says to stay offline.
Melty also lists ER Mario and says its package targets Steam Elden Ring executable 2.7.1.0 or 2.7.1.1 on Windows. The same page says live-client installation was still unverified when we read it. If Melty and the README disagree, follow the README.

Do I need a Super Mario 64 ROM?
Yes. The ER Mario README says you supply your own US ROM. The mod builds Mario’s model and sounds from it on your PC. We do not host ROMs.
Can I play ER Mario online?
No. me3 starts Elden Ring offline with anti-cheat off, and the README says never to take this mod online.
