How to spot fake mashup downloads
The week these clips spread, random “official mod” pages showed up next to them. A video is easy to fake. A download is where the risk is.
- Start from the creator's own repo or the page named in our directory. If we marked it video only, there was no download to mirror.
- Match the version in the README. SkyCraft names a Skyrim runtime. ER Mario names a US Mario 64 ROM you already own. A zip that “includes both games” is not those projects.
- Prefer the releases page on that same GitHub account. A reupload on a file host, a Discord you just joined, or a shortened link is a different file.
- Do not disable security tools because a page told you the mod is “undetected.” Offline mods for Elden Ring say to stay offline. They do not ask you to turn protection off for the whole PC.
- Read the requirements before you click. A Mac source tree will not become a Windows exe because a thumbnail says “free download.”
- If the only proof is a repost, treat it as a clip. Minecraft in Elden Ring is the pattern: huge video, no file from that post, other projects later under other names.
We do not host mods, ROMs, or game files. If an entry starts linking to a bundle of someone else's assets, it should come off the list.
