How to install Prepare to Die, Dragonborn
puddinboots' Melty package plays Dark Souls rolls, backsteps, and lock-on on your Skyrim character. Animations are read from your installed Prepare to Die Edition each launch. Combat stays Skyrim. Follow the creator if a step here and the README disagree.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition × Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition
- Windows
Last checked 8 Oct 2026
What it does
- Tap Sprint while moving to roll. The page says fast, mid, and fat rolls follow how heavy your worn gear is, with Dark Souls' invincibility windows.
- Tap Sprint while standing still to backstep. Middle mouse or right-stick click locks on.
- Rolling or locking on switches to third person, then returns you to first person.
- Attack movesets are listed as not in this version yet.
Requirements
- Skyrim
- Special Edition 1.7.104, called the current Steam version on the page.
- Dark Souls
- Prepare to Die Edition through Steam. Without it, the page says Skyrim tells you and plays unchanged.
Platforms: Windows
Install steps
- Install both games, then use Play on the Melty page.
- Address Library for SKSE Plugins is credited as bundled. This site does not host the mod.
Before you touch a save
- This is movement only. It is not a full Dark Souls combat mod, and it is not ER Mario.
- SKSE plugins can break on the next Skyrim update. We have not played this one.
